White Southerners are the only "peoples" that it is ok to make fun of anymore...example, see Honey BooBoo. Duck Dynasty, etc.....
*edited to add the only "officially sanctioned" derision, my examples are on national television...the authors' examples are on You-Tube....*

posted @ Saturday, May 18, 2013 - 08:46@E.J.: I shooed the snake off three days in a row......each day it got closer and closer to my rare female Eclectus Parrot....could not reach it with a hoe or a shovel, area too small and I am not as agile as I used to be....snake was coiled up and it was dead after my second shot....I never kill anything un-necessarily....and I did not feel macho after having to kill it, only sad that it did not go away when I shooed it away.
Do me a favor...put me on your ignore list, ok?

Had to shoot a copperhead snake with a pistol the other day. Too tight a location to use the rifle.....

I just leave them there....but....I did know of someone who would take the Gideons, cut out the pages, and use them to roll joints. He said that it was free, the paper was thin and that he could not taste any ink....I don't know, I didn't try it....prefer my paper ink-free
I, like @annacat: , like to fish simply. Bamboo cane pole, a plastic red/white bobber and a regular hook with a squiggly red worm on it. Canoe, no trolling motor, nothing to make a sound. Best way to fish.....EXCEPT
Saturday afternoon I got out on the lake in the canoe. Wasn't out there 10 minutes before a storm came blowing in. Fast and furious!! I wound up paddling and bailing out rain all at the same time....Squished my way home...
But, Hey! it was fishin' !.....
My well was located by a dowser....appreciated that I only had to drill one site......

posted @ Friday, May 10, 2013 - 13:25So, today I had to get out my little revolver....
There has been a copperhead out here at Chez Jurassic that has gotten a little too familiar with the aviary where my rare parrots live...We brought them out from their winter lodgings Wednesday and the copperhead went straight for them... I shooed it away three times, but it kept coming back.
It was coiled up in a spot I could not reach, but it was waaay too close to my female Eclectus parrot named Lady (she is 28 years old)....My revolver hits a little high, but I got it on the second shot....I really didn't want to do it, it had just shed and was looking pretty, but I couldn't let it stay.
Cleaned the gun and put it up in it's proper place.... :kindasad:
*edited to add the winter lodgings part (They have their own building to live in for the winter)
