I know many seem to enjoy sitting in smug judgement of others but the facts are the homeless are not the stereotypes many here portray...

-- 20-25% suffer from severe mental illness...our mental health "system" basically medicates people and throws them back on the street

--as high as 40% are families with children, who have lost their homes/jobs

--200,000+ (20-25%) are veterans

I would encourage folks to remember these facts before casting judgement on all homeless...remember John Bradford's words about the heart of being a Christian: "there but for the grace of God go I"

so I fight against what the GOP has become: a radicalized "smaller government" party that insists on expanding government control over our most private lives...
