In a weird sort of way it reminds me of my experience with "American" cars designed to get higher mileage; they temporarily became popular in the 1970s and 1980s as a domestically built solution to imported, fuel-efficient Japanese models.

Then consumers realized the high MPG U.S. built cars were ... crap!

Doesn't take much "burning" to go crazy for well-built, reliable vehicles ...!

In cars, like in life, sometimes all you have is a first impression ...
