Sumichrast: End "Derision" Aimed at Education!

January 30, 2013

Robert Sumichrast -- the short-termer, and outgoing current Dean of the UGA Business School -- got a warm reception at a recent address when he talked about the current and future state of GA's economy! In one high-lighted remark, he advised an end to the "derision" aimed at public education in GA!

I was wondering two things:

1. Has criticism of education in GA -- K12, and higher education -- actually caused it to be less effective and productive?

2. If native and personal gripes and complaints aimed at education actually harms the process -- and thereby harms the education of the children and adults involved -- then HOW FAR should public and private authorities GO, to root-out and end the, uh, "derision?"!
