Strangest contract clause ever

December 8, 2012

So, I received a contract to do some subcontracting work for a educational group this week.

Everything was fairly pro forma - nothing new, nothing exciting.

Then I read this:

L.-Ron-Hubbard-Clause

The agent declares that he is not currently operating according to
the method („technology“) of L. Ron Hubbard and will not do so in
the future during lessons, that he has not been trained according to
the method („technology“) of L. Ron Hubbard and that he will in no
manner use or implement this method („technology“) during his
occupation.

Now, I know how the Germans feel about Scientology and everything, but is this really necessary? What do you think about this?

Draft language of so-called curfew ordinance

Full text of the Use of Public Right-of-Ways ordinance draft is below. Highlight: Would set hours of operation of each Athens-Clarke County "building campus" -- e.g. City Hall, the courthouse and Dougherty Street government building -- at 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. Park hours would either be set by the Athens-Clarke County manager or the Mayor and Commission. The ordinance has been derided by members of Occupy Athens and others as seeking to enforce a curfew on public property, thus damaging their First Amendment right to peacably assemble for long-term protests. read more
