Slowing down Alzheimer's disease: How about them coconuts?

January 8, 2013

Alzheimer's is one of the most terrifying diseases to afflict a person. The loss of one's faculties can be dangerous, deadly and downright scary.

According to naturalnews.com, "The most cutting-edge research suggests that Alzheimer's may stem from an inability of the brain to process glucose, leading to cell death."

The article states that the brain has other fuels sources such as ketones, produced by the body from mid-chain triglycerides like those found in coconut oil.

There have been anecdotal reports that giving Alzheimer's patients coconut oil can slow the effects of Alzheimer's and in some cases reversed some of the existing symptoms.

Check out this video for more:

Do you know anyone who suffers from Alzheimer's?

How has it affected their lives?

Do you think the key to finding a cure is somewhere in nature or will it be find by pharmaceutical companies?

According to the video, researchers are not spending a lot of time researching ketones because it costs too much.  Do you think this is the reason we don't have cures for so many diseases?

What are some other natural remedies you have heard about?
