Share your favorite Larry Munson memories with us

November 21, 2011

The sad news broke late Sunday night that longtime Georgia broadcaster Larry Munson had passed away at age 89, and I’ve already seen very touching comments on stories about him.

I thought I’d start collecting some of them and repost and possibly publish in the Banner-Herald some of the best. So let me know – what is your favorite Larry Munson memory? Where were you when you heard your favorite call live? If you knew him, what was he like? What do you think it was about him that endeared him to Georgia fans and tied him to the school in a way so few other broadcasters have done anywhere else?

Post some stories in the comments below or email them to me at christopher.c.white@onlineathens.com.

For more on Munson, including some links to video and photos of the broadcasting great, check out this link: http://onlineathens.com/local-news/2011-11-20/longtime-broadcaster-munso...
