Shaming away childhood obesity

Children's Healthcare of Atlanta recently started a very aggressive, controversial campaign against childhood obesity that has garnered national attention.

Unfortunately, the attention CHOA is receiving is not positive.  The new ad campaigns do not use positive messages about eating healthy or excercising but rather shame towards the children and the parents.

A number of pychologists have come out against the campaign saying that shaming children will not help them lose weight but rather just make them feel worse about their bodies and they will never lose weight.

    Chuck Williams wants your money

    State Rep. Chuck Williams, R-Watkinsville, is holding two fundraisers next week, indicating that he expects to have opposition either in July or November. The fundraisers are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Holiday Inn in downtown Athens and Tuesday at Springhill Suites in Oconee County. He's asking for a $100, $250 or $500 donation, but contributions aren't necessary to attend.
