Rookie Update Ricky Rubio

Ricky Rubio was a very highly talented prospect coming from Spain. Everyone has heard about his spectacular passing ablities. Rubio has energized the Minnestoa Timberwolves significantly. The Timberwolves are a very young and talented team. Rubio is averaging 10.9 points per game, as well as 8.7 assists per game. Many people are comparing Rubio to a young Pistol Pete Maravich with their long hair and their fantastic court vision as well as being able to make all kinds of passes from all kinds of angles. I really think the culture in Minnestoa is changing with a young core of Kevin Love, Ricky Rubio, and Derek Williams who was the number two over all pick in last summers NBA Draft. The combination of Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio has been as good as what the fans of the Timberwolves had hoped for. The sky is the limit for these young Timberwolves.

    Chuck Williams wants your money

    State Rep. Chuck Williams, R-Watkinsville, is holding two fundraisers next week, indicating that he expects to have opposition either in July or November. The fundraisers are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Holiday Inn in downtown Athens and Tuesday at Springhill Suites in Oconee County. He's asking for a $100, $250 or $500 donation, but contributions aren't necessary to attend. Secretary of State Brian Kemp, Agriculture Commissioner Gary Black, Insurance Commissioner Ralph Hudgens and state Sen. Bill Cowsert, R-Athens, are the hosts. read more
