In reply to: White House photo shows Obama skeet shooting »

February 2, 2013

Is there anything that is real from this guy ? All shotgun shells contain "smokeless gunpowder": This photo looks closer to a 1865 musket being fired. This is a very odd picture. It appears to be a Winchester model 101 Diamond Grade Skeet Shotgun. The give away is the silvered receiver area and has side vets that allow gases to escape on both sides of the barrel and help to minimize the "kick" & mussel rise.

Shotgun barrels designed for skeet shooting aren’t ported on the top. They’re ported at about 30 degrees from vertical and there are two sets of holes, one set on each side of the barrel. Why is there only one plume of smoke? There should be two plumes in a “V” configuration. Real ammo does not create plumes of smoke, but blanks do.

Draft language of so-called curfew ordinance

Full text of the Use of Public Right-of-Ways ordinance draft is below. Highlight: Would set hours of operation of each Athens-Clarke County "building campus" -- e.g. City Hall, the courthouse and Dougherty Street government building -- at 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. Park hours would either be set by the Athens-Clarke County manager or the Mayor and Commission. The ordinance has been derided by members of Occupy Athens and others as seeking to enforce a curfew on public property, thus damaging their First Amendment right to peacably assemble for long-term protests. read more
