In reply to: Judge halts contraceptive mandate for firm owned by Domino's founder »

December 31, 2012

Here's the deal: A baby isn't a tumor, isn't cancer, isn't an infection. Babies aren't an illness or a disease. Ok, at 13, maybe they are all of the above, but I digress.

At best, and for a good percentage of the population, a baby is an elective proceedure in that they (both parents I hope) decided to inflict themselves with a child. Not unlike a boob job, tummy tuck, or teeth whitening. Their decisions to incur tens of thousands of dollars in medical care should not require the insurers to cover that proceedure.

Likewise, contraception is an elective, over the counter even, solution from contracting the dreaded "pregnancy" illness. So fearful of catching "babies" that people line up for shots, patches, pills, condoms and the like.

Who knew that all that is necessary to not catch "the babies" is to keep your pants zipped.

Athens-Clarke County police officers responded to Pinewood Estates North on a 911 call concerning a heated domestic dispute. it reportedly was an argument over the lack of heat and food in a family's trailer and a woman was threatening to stab anyone who tried to take away her 7-month-old child. State patrol responded also, from their post nearby on U.S. Highway 29 North. The situation apparently was resolved. An officer reported he was driving the woman and infant to another home in Athens. read more
