As a "butt-burner" to my own four and a retired teacher to many more, let me say that a child who is nine years old and wants to kill herself by stepping in front of a car is not a brat. This is a child with SERIOUS emotional issues, and she's in the school designated to help students like her. Mental illness is real and affects many young children. Please don't compare a child with mental problems with that disgrace of a human being.

    The committee opted Tuesday night to put off deciding on the ordinance until, at the earliest, its next meeting.
