silent_majority - E.J. - We as a nation are so...completely...f****d. The god dammed iPad-toting hipster "I'm so cool" crowd has totally f****d us all with their stupid ass decisions (what a shock!). Most of those morons would have voted for Snookie if she were on the ballot.
<
Maybe the Republican Party should do something to make themselves attractive to the voters. I am far from a Liberal, but I am aslo far from where the Republican Party sits as it sits today. They are too socially intolerant, and far to religiously intolerant for me to vote for a Republican. I voted Libertarian. The Republicans are so far right they can't see the middle, and they got smoked for it. This could have been a much tighter race, or even a win , if they would just move to the middle on social and religious issues. Otherwise, they better plan to keep on losing. The Nation is not that conservative on those issues..mainly becasue they deprive American Citizens of their inalienable and liberties.

She and I played phone tag Monday when I was reporting the story and I wasn't able to get her comments in a timely fashion. Instead, she sent over this statement Wednesday morning and she did not mince her words. (Links and italicized portions are my own; otherwise, it's as she wrote it.) Dear Friends: read more

UPDATED: Draft language of so-called curfew ordinance

The committee opted Tuesday night to put off deciding on the ordinance until, at the earliest, its next meeting. Of note: The Athens-Clarke County attorney highlighted that the proposed times are, in essence, placeholders for the commission to change or keep as it pleases.   Full text of the Use of Public Right-of-Ways ordinance draft is below. read more
