Muslim comedian puts 'human' face on Islam

One of the most popular topics on our site has to be religion and Islam.

Some of it is good and some of it is questionable.

Recently, Muslim comedian Aasif Mandvi, who is well-known for his funny reports on "The Daily Show," won a "Courage in Media" award from The Council on American-Islamic Relations.

Mandvi is being praised for putting a "human" face on the Muslim religion when it receives such negative attention in the press.

I really enjoy watching Mandvi on "The Daily Show" and he seems to find a creative way to point out the hypocrisy towards Muslims in his reports.

Without getting into a heated battle about Islam and the religion in general, do you think Mandvi is a good ambassador of the Islamic religion?

After watching him, does he change your views of Islam?

    Chuck Williams wants your money

    State Rep. Chuck Williams, R-Watkinsville, is holding two fundraisers next week, indicating that he expects to have opposition either in July or November. The fundraisers are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Holiday Inn in downtown Athens and Tuesday at Springhill Suites in Oconee County. He's asking for a $100, $250 or $500 donation, but contributions aren't necessary to attend.
