Krispy Kreme Doughnut Dare

January 16, 2012

If you enjoy eating doughnuts, exercising, and philanthropy; here's your chance to do all three at one time!

Anyone who has spent as much time watching the Food Network as I do has heard about the incredibly successful "Krispy Kreme Challenge" in North Carolina. The event is a 5k in which participants eat a box of Krispy Kreme doughnuts halfway to the finish line. All proceeds from the race go to North Carolina Children's Hospital. UGA Miracle has decided to bring the race to Athens this year with a similar event that benefits Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Although the race will be modeled after its intense North Carolina inspiration, this race is designed for everyone. Participants have the options to eat all ten doughnuts, eat some of the doughnuts, or opt out of the eating portion. If running doesn't interest you, there will be no shortage of participants to cheer on.

The Doughnut Dare will take place in Athens this Saturday, January 21st. If you think you have the stomach to make it to the end of the race-doughnuts intact-you could be crowned champion. Sign up here: http://www.ugamiracle.org/events.html

I'm not sure if I could eat ten doughnuts in one sitting or run a 5k, let alone do both at the same time, but you better believe I'll be there to see the beginning of what could be a new and ...colorful... Athen's tradition. Will you be?
