It's hard to find anyone who doesn't like the sound of a guitar. Ever wonder how they're put together?

Back in the sixties, in the east Village in NYC, a young man named Michael Gurian set up a lutherie shop and began to turn out some really special guitars. To most luthiers (builders of stringed instruments), this constituted the beginning of the Golden Age of guitar building. Willie Cumpiano worked in that shop and here is a photographic essay of one of his recent builds:

    UPDATED: Draft language of so-called curfew ordinance

    The committee opted Tuesday night to put off deciding on the ordinance until, at the earliest, its next meeting.
