The Hunger Games: from book to theater

There's nothing worse than seeing your favorite book be butchered in film form. As the release date for the first Hunger Games film approaches, (66 days and 7 hours-to be exact) I can't help but worry that my favorite book trilogy of all time might play out on the screen in a way that does not do the books justice.

Some of the most important book-to-screen decisions are made in casting. Jennifer Lawrence has been cast as the heroine, Katniss Everdeen. As for the two male leads, Liam Hemsworth will be portraying Gale Hawthorne while Peeta Mellark will be played by Josh Hutcherson.

I was pleasantly surprised by the trailer which seems to explain the intricate plot without giving too much away.

    Chuck Williams wants your money

    State Rep. Chuck Williams, R-Watkinsville, is holding two fundraisers next week, indicating that he expects to have opposition either in July or November. The fundraisers are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Holiday Inn in downtown Athens and Tuesday at Springhill Suites in Oconee County. He's asking for a $100, $250 or $500 donation, but contributions aren't necessary to attend.
