China Never to Copy Western Political System
2012-11-12 17:35:16 Xinhua Web Editor: yangyang66

Anyone trying to keep track of the development of China's political system must have got an unequivocal answer at the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

Hu Jintao solemnly declared in his report at the opening of the congress that "we will never copy a Western political system."

What about copying Western copyrighted material and mass producing THAT for sale in the mass market?

And what about taking Western intellectual property IP for the benefit of the Chinese economy and its government?

How about U.S. patents and technology?

Please, please. If you aren't going to steal the Western idea about government, please keep China's kleptocratic fingers off the rest of our stuff as well!!! Laughing out loud

Rep. Regina Quick pulls no punches on Chamber scorecard

Rep. Regina Quick, R-Athens, was one of two local delegates to score less than an "A+" in the Chamber of Commerce's annual legislative score card. Instead, she sent over this statement Wednesday morning and she did not mince her words. (Links and italicized portions are my own; otherwise, it's as she wrote it.) Dear Friends: read more

UPDATED: Draft language of so-called curfew ordinance

The committee opted Tuesday night to put off deciding on the ordinance until, at the earliest, its next meeting. Of note: The Athens-Clarke County attorney highlighted that the proposed times are, in essence, placeholders for the commission to change or keep as it pleases.   Full text of the Use of Public Right-of-Ways ordinance draft is below. read more
