How your positive comments can help others

February 1, 2012

Who would have thought that blogging with the open comments option could be good for a socially-awkward teens health? Well a study found that blogging is theraputic for teens, even more so when they have an open comments section.

Internet comment secions have gotten a bad rap due to trolls and bullies. With the fear of these bulies why would a socially awkward teen open up on the internet?

Since these teens blogs are not high traffic sites they tend to not attract bullies and trolls. They end up having a dedicated group of followers who give them support and encouragement.

For teen bloggers their supportive commenters become another friend group. They are friends that allow them to open up and listen to their problems.

I can attest to the theraputic aspect of this study. I maintain a cooking blog called Caley's Cooking Creations that allows my family and friends to follow my cooking adventures. After busy days at school and work, my cooking blog allows me to focus on something that I enjoy and gloat about my hobbie.

So do you have a blog? If so, do you find it theraputic and a positive impact on your health?

Have you ever had a problem with trolls or bullies in comment sections?
