Forty years of legal interracial marriage; is it time for gays?

America loves Hollywood interracial couples like Heidi Klum and Seal and adores interracial beauties like Beyonce and Halle Berry.

But it wasn’t always this way. Mildred and Richard Loving did not realize they were breaking the law in 1958 when they got married. Mildred of African American and Native American descent, and Richard of Anglo descent were arrested a month after they were married… simply for loving one another and getting married.

On the 40th anniversary of the Supreme Court ruling that struck down America’s laws against interracial marriage, Mildred Loving issued a statement, "I am still not a political person, but I am proud that Richard's and my name is on a court case that can help reinforce the love, the commitment, the fairness, and the family that so many people, black or white, young or old, gay or straight, seek in life."

So in today’s times we face similar cultural setbacks regarding issues such as gay marriage.
