The excitement of college basketball

February 15, 2012

Late yesterday evening I watched a documentary called "40 Minutes of Hell". The piece is a part of ESPN's Storied Series and chronicles the path to a 1994 NCAA title by the Arkansas Razorbacks men's basketball team. To describe that team in one word: EXCITING. Arkansas head coach Nolan Richardson had his team pressure the opponent incessantly and physically wear them down throughout the ball game. Richardson even used many talented players off the bench when needed so the pressure wouldn't let up and no one would get tired. They were a force, and the Razorbacks let that be known to the nation when they defeated Duke to win the national championship.

The excitement of that documentary got me to thinking about the most exciting college basketball teams today. This season I have thouroughly enjoyed watching the No. 3-ranked Missouri Tigers and the No. 1-ranked Kentucky Wildacts. Missouri features a four-guard attack that allows them to run up-and-down the court on opponents with a relative ease. Kentucky has a trio of high-flying freshmen that make my jaw drop at times, especially Anthony Davis. I simply enjoy watching teams that play at a fast pace and can bury an opponent in the blink of an eye.

Who do you think is the most exciting team in college basketball this year? Or what team do you enjoy watching the most?
