Do opposite political views make a happier couple?

November 4, 2011

Herman Cain has definitley been in the spotlight a good bit lately but what about his wife? Gloria Cain has chosen to stay out of the spotlight with her husband but according to Mr. Cain, she backs him "200%." Today it was revealed that Gloria Cain normally votes in Democratic primaries here in Georgia and it leads most to think that she may have a different poltical ideal than her husband.

The Cains are not the only high-profile political couple to have differing views on politics. James Carville and Mary Matlin are polar political opposites but have been married for 18 years.

Based on comments made by Cindy McCain in the 2008 presidential election, it looks like she has differing views from her husband, too.

Before their recent problems with an extra-marital affair, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver were on the opposites sides of the political spectrum and seemed very happy (except for that pesky affair and hidden child thing).

What is it that makes such polar opposites attract?  Do you know of any other couples who have such diametrically opposing ideals but still seem to make great couples?
