Chik-Fil-A's Latest "Horror"

December 28, 2012

Unbalanced Diet = Unbalanced Mind

David "We are strict vegetarians and have never set foot in a Chik-Fil-A" Sirota has somehow, perhaps with assistance from his friendly neighborhood Corporate Conglomerate Fairies, acquired a copy of Chik-Fil-A's The Jolly Barnyard. Instead of applauding the admirable endeavor of giving children books instead of worthless olastic toys with their meals, Sirota somehow manages the level of derangement required to launch a page-long whining screed about Gobbelsesque manipulation in which he does not neglect to mention the "local-business-crushing Godzilla" (?).

Son: Jolly Barnyard, Daddy!
Pop: No it isn't! It's a filthy, putrid factory-like environment filled with years of mind numbing depression punctuated with minutes of terrifying horror, flying guts, spurting blood, giblets sliding down grime encrusted walls and unseeing heads resting on an excremental floor.
Son: Thank you for making my childhood a soul-crushing nightmare, father.
Pop: Salon. com? Donkey! Did someone say donkey?

Rep. Regina Quick pulls no punches on Chamber scorecard

Rep. Regina Quick, R-Athens, was one of two local delegates to score less than an "A+" in the Chamber of Commerce's annual legislative score card. She and I played phone tag Monday when I was reporting the story and I wasn't able to get her comments in a timely fashion. Instead, she sent over this statement Wednesday morning and she did not mince her words. (Links and italicized portions are my own; otherwise, it's as she wrote it.) Dear Friends: read more

UPDATED: Draft language of so-called curfew ordinance

The committee opted Tuesday night to put off deciding on the ordinance until, at the earliest, its next meeting. Of note: The Athens-Clarke County attorney highlighted that the proposed times are, in essence, placeholders for the commission to change or keep as it pleases.   Full text of the Use of Public Right-of-Ways ordinance draft is below. read more
