Beatitudes for extremists and the weird

December 3, 2012

Some people call me an extremist and don't like my posts here and write that I post too much, and state that I include too many links, or even that I should be banned.

I am a libertarian. I do believe in the Constitution. I did serve in the military. I was a Georgia State Trooper. I was a teacher. I do believe in natural healing methods. I do not believe in a police state.

I post because I find something that is interesting or newsworthy, and I feel that others might also find it interesting. That doesn't mean that one should assume that I believe one thing or another just because of the link that I post. Perhaps I have been wrong to assume myself, that others are able to browse and research the Internet like I do with sometimes over 200 tabs open. Opera is really easy to use, and it makes it really easy to browse the Internet at a fast rate. The vertical side tabs just provide a faster and more pleasant web researching experience.

But this post is for me because I'm trying to follow others and improve myself, and I thought it might be fun for others, who might have problems in life like me. I've been feeling sorry for myself, and I'm trying to do better. And when I think about Kyle Maynard, I feel ashamed of myself. I met him when he was at UGA, but I forgot about him, and I didn't know about his most recent accomplishment. So I'm just ashamed of myself that I've been acting immaturely, that I've been feeling sorry for myself regarding my health, and other things. I'm older than Kyle but he is my hero, and I'm ashamed of myself and want to do better.

So, E.J., I'm sorry for anything that I've done to offend you and I'm sorry to everyone here that I have acted immaturely, and I promise to do better.

"I have observed with my heart and seen clearly that every action we take is either an expression of love or a cry for love. This practice has heightened my capacity for compassion and opened my heart greater than I ever knew possible. It has often been said that the only certainties in life are death and taxes, but eventually we learn that even these are mere illusions."

"This leads then that if all actions are either love or a request for love then LOVE is a certainty. I know that like attracts like, and so the energy I am being is attracted into my experience. This is why one thing we all have in common is that above all else we long for love and acceptance. We long for love, because we ARE love. Made in the image of our source, we are love, because source is pure love. You feel this connection with pure source love when you bring yourself into the magic of stillness."--Dezarae Starnes

"He was born a quadruple amputee with no limbs beyond his elbows and knees...living a normal life in extraordinary circumstances while amassing a great many successes. Not least of these is climbing Africa’s Mount Kilimanjaro, a 38-mile trek to the summit through severe conditions including daunting ice fields.--by Barbara Christian - November 26, 2012

Blog: Can we please fix the Oscars?

Summary:  Fun facts: The first-ever Oscar ceremony, held in 1929, ran a brisk 15 minutes. By contrast, the longest was in 2002, clocking in at a monstrous 4 hours and change. As usual, there are things I loved about it and things I didn't. Rather than be snarky or complain, I'll offer a few suggestions on how the organizers might bring the show into the 21st century. Winter storm drama

Athens-Clarke County police officers responded to Pinewood Estates North on a 911 call concerning a heated domestic dispute. it reportedly was an argument over the lack of heat and food in a family's trailer and a woman was threatening to stab anyone who tried to take away her 7-month-old child. State patrol responded also, from their post nearby on U.S. Highway 29 North. The situation apparently was resolved. An officer reported he was driving the woman and infant to another home in Athens. read more
