Are you giving up anything for Lent?

February 22, 2012

Today is Ash Wednesday, which marks the first day of Lent. As most Christians are probably aware, Lent is the 40 day period leading up to Good Friday and Easter Sunday, and it is tradition for many people of faith to commit to fasting or sacrificing a type of luxury as a form of penitnence.

I am choosing to give up bread for 40 days, a feat which I know is much easier said than done. I can only pray my motivation will continue into the coming weeks. I know the rewards will be great if I can only stay committed. I know if I can stick to my goal, I will feel better physically and mentally.

Do you observe Lent, and if so, what do you plan on sacrificing?
