Am I an extremist for opposing drone attacks on innocent children?

November 8, 2012

Again, EJ, I ask you, am I an extremist for opposing Obama's attacks on children? You called me an extremist and raised your hands to your ears and cried that you will not open up your mind to consider other viewpoints.

A Nobel Peace Prize winner can mutilate and kill children, and yet I'm the extremist because I don't support that? And others at the Athens Banner get upset with me and want me banned because I'm an extremist? Am I killing children?

Compare Obama with Dr. King. Dr. King also was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Did Dr. King order US citizens detained without trial? Did Dr. King order innocent children to be killed and maimed?

Dr. Martin Luther King said that the United States is “the greatest purveyor of violence in the world today” and nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity. The image of America will never again be the image of revolution, freedom, and democracy, but the image of violence and militarism."--Dr. MLK

Martin Luther King, a REAL Nobel Peace Prize winner unlike Obama.

So, I support someone like MLK who was a true Nobel Peace winner, and EJ supports Obama who wages war and hurts and kills children, and who also was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, and yet I am the extremist and should be called names by EJ and his ilk?

Rep. Regina Quick pulls no punches on Chamber scorecard

Rep. Regina Quick, R-Athens, was one of two local delegates to score less than an "A+" in the Chamber of Commerce's annual legislative score card. She and I played phone tag Monday when I was reporting the story and I wasn't able to get her comments in a timely fashion. Instead, she sent over this statement Wednesday morning and she did not mince her words. (Links and italicized portions are my own; otherwise, it's as she wrote it.) Dear Friends: read more

UPDATED: Draft language of so-called curfew ordinance

The committee opted Tuesday night to put off deciding on the ordinance until, at the earliest, its next meeting. Of note: The Athens-Clarke County attorney highlighted that the proposed times are, in essence, placeholders for the commission to change or keep as it pleases.   Full text of the Use of Public Right-of-Ways ordinance draft is below. read more
